An opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join a well-established private hospital that specialises in providing the highest quality of service to people with longstanding mental health problems. Based in Hertfordshire, the successful Healthcare Assistant will join the care team earning a salary of £18,749 per annum (pro rata).

The hospital service has 30 in-patient beds designated for restricted access or locked rehabilitation. It provides care and treatment for the full spectrum of mental health illnesses with all patients being funded by the NHS. As a Healthcare Assistant, your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:


  • Delivering a caring and effective, client focussed service, in keeping with the aims, objectives and standards of the hospital
  • Delivering sensitive and appropriate clinical care to meet individual’s needs, whilst respecting personal dignity and beliefs
  • Working closely with the nursing team
  • Ensuring that, with other colleagues, the communal areas are always staffed
  • Ensuring that clients are always supervised when in the garden, unless otherwise stipulated in their care plan
  • Interacting in a positive and natural manner with all clients
  • Identifying signs that may indicate that clients are at risk either to others or to themselves and reporting these concerns to the relevant staff members
  • Reporting any concerning behaviours or conversation topics with clients immediately

More information on shift patterns

Full-Time -  Work over a 2-week rolling pattern of 12.5-hour shifts, 3 days one week, 4 days the next. This pattern includes working alternate weekends, and please be aware that there will be a requirement to work occasional night shifts, currently set at 1 week in 5.

Nights Only – As above, but working from 20:00-08:30 on all allocated shifts
